What’s the deal with “Maru Pradesh”? I want more information about it.
Maru Pradesh, also known as Marusthali, is a geographical, cultural, social, economic, political, and linguistic region within the Thar Desert in Northwest India. It is also a proposed state in India with Maru Pradesh’s proposed capital being Jodhpur, the largest city of Maru Pradesh. The state would be carved out from the existing state of Rajasthan.
The proposed state of Maru Pradesh would consist of several districts including Jalore, Balotra, Barmer, Sanchore, Sirohi, Didwana Kuchaman, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Jodhpur Rural, Nagaur, Pali, Phalodi, Anupgarh, Sikar, Neem ka Thana, Churu, Sri Ganganagar, and Beawar.
The concept of Maru Pradesh has historical roots. When Rajasthan was being formed, Jodhpur and Bikaner states strongly opposed the merger of Rajasthan and favored creating a desert state. Over time, voices in different parts arose in support of the proposed Maru Pradesh. The demand for a separate state named Maru Pradesh has been increasing recently. The people living in these districts are hopeful that the formation of a separate state would lead to rapid development. The new state Maru Pradesh would cover an area of about 2 lakh square kilometers.
As per the Census 2011 data, the total population of the proposed state of Maru Pradesh is 28,132,949.
Nice Question, will be helpful for several people😊
